Initially, it appears the people in the neighbourhood were unsure of what was happening to their dogs but they’ve now established that the disappearance is caused by lions who prowl the area at night and stage surprise ambushes.
In the 1.15 seconds CCTV footage, a lioness is seen stealthily scaling a perimeter wall before it takes some minutes to survey the area below. It then jumps into a compound and, seconds later, it can be seen jumping back out, with a black dog tightly clasped in its teeth.
