More Pain For Motorists As CS Murkomen Seeks To Hike Fuel Levy By Ksh.7

The clamour to finance the Ksh.4 trillion budget expected to be presented on Thursday by the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary has thrown the government to creative ideas on how to raise resources to finance it.
The proposal by Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen to increase the road maintenance levy charged on every litre of petrol or diesel at the pump could see fuel prices return to the range of Ksh.200 per litre.
CS Murkomen made a case for the review saying there are increasing demands for road maintenance, which the extra Ksh.7 could bridge, in the coming years.
