The security sector got a major boost Thursday as National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u read the budget for the year 2024-2025.

In the budget, Prof. the Cabinet Secretary announced that to improve security the sector was going to get an allocation of Ksh. 377.5 billion compared to Ksh. 338.2 billion allocated to the sector last year, an increase of Ksh. 39.3 billion. The funds are to support operations of the National Police Service, Defence, the National Intelligence Service and Prison Services.
“The proposed allocations include Ksh 173.1 billion for Defence; Ksh 110.6 billion for the National Police Service; Ksh 46.3 billion for the National Intelligence Service; and Ksh 32.7 billion for Prisons Services,” said Prof Njuguna
In comparison to last year, Ksh 144.9 billion went to Kenya Defence Forces; Ksh 98.6 billion for National Police Service; Ksh 44.3 billion for the National Intelligence Service; and Ksh 31.3 billion for Prisons Services.
